Smile of the Month

José Humberto Lozada

Hello, my name is José Humberto Lozada. I am 17 years old and have been at CIMA for about 4 years. My time at CIMA helped me develop as a person and develop my skills. The workshops that I like the most are music and technical initiation. My project, upon leaving CIMA, would be to enlist in the Peruvian Air Force (FAP) and help people who need it, like me, at some point, I also needed it. I get along well with all my CIMA colleagues. We always support each other. I am very grateful to my teachers and my tutors, especially the tutors Moisés and Pedro. Soccer fascinates me, especially when I play with my teammates.

Workshops and Various Activities

The Ayacuchana Ceramic Workshop

This workshop started about 6 years ago with Professor Dante Tinco. In this workshop the techniques of artisan ceramics are taught: ornamental dishes, country houses, chositas and Ayacucho altarpieces are made. The workshop is therapeutic and helps children express their emotions. It also allows them to learn different techniques in creating and making new models, using their imagination. In addition, it teaches them to value crafts as cultural heritage.

Testimonials

Danny Lozano

Ex – CIMA

My name is Danny Lozano, I am going to tell you about my experience and how CIMA changed my life:

My stay there was very good. From the beginning, Father Jean-Louis gave us adequate training, since we were young kids without the stability of a home. At CIMA, we learned about order and cleanliness, we raised rabbits and guinea pigs. We had soccer championships between the different pavilions, which allowed us to get to know each other better and better. We had a schedule that kept us busy throughout the day: morning prayer, studies, meals, grooming, cleaning chores, sports. I am grateful to Father Jean-Louis and the tutors, for having opened the doors of this beautiful place to me, and for their advice and their teachings.

Now I am married and I am the father of 4 children. I teach my children the values I learned at CIMA, so that they can improve themselves and move forward.

COLLABORATOR

I started working at CIMA in September 1995 raising small animals, caring for the vegetable gardens and gardening. For me the work I do is very rewarding. Children come with all kinds of problems. In this work, it is important that one has a vocation for service and a generous heart to know how to reach each child. Working together, we can help you overcome your behavior, addiction, or other problems. We assume the role of a father or an older brother, to guide these children with affection and discipline in their personal development. Each of them needs a lot of affection, because in some cases they did not receive it in their family. It has been very difficult for me to understand the situation of children who are mistreated and looked down upon by society. Father Jean-Louis came to Peru to help children with problems, leaving his family, his friends and his country behind. He brought a glimmer of hope to these children and teens. For this reason, I am very motivated to collaborate with this work of social good. I contribute by sharing my knowledge with the children. They learn to value human life and different species of animals. They also learn the value of vegetables in our daily diet. Our children learn to grow both aromatic, medicinal and decorative plants. This knowledge allows them to replicate the cultivation of these plants in their homes. The fruits of our work with children and adolescents are long-term. Once rehabilitated, the young men are integrated into their community and carry out different activities to earn a living. When they come to visit us, they are grateful to the home for allowing them to overcome their situation. In many cases they have a well-established family. I want to thank all the donors because without their contribution it would not be possible to continue supporting so many children who need help. They are the future of the country. Thank you.

Thanks

Ms. Consuelo Vargas

Ms. Consuelo Vargas has had a very important role in the history of CIMA. Since the founding year in 1990, she has been supporting our children in the educational part. Thanks to Consuelo, we met Eng. Federico Jahncke, who donated the land to us, allowing the rapid extension of our home. When we moved to Cieneguilla, Consuelo took over the lead of CIMA and helped Jean-Louis’ manage the home. In addition, she was supervising the boys’ educational section, coordinating with the Huarangal school where she used to be a teacher for years. Thank you Consuelo for your enormous contribution to the cause of many children and adolescents that you have loved so much. That’s why everyone called you Mama Consuelo!
